More about the contaminated meat

The Boar’s Head recalled more than seven million pounds of deli meat on July 30, which expanded an initial recall on July 25, following the report giving a positive report of a liverwurst sample collected from Maryland with listeria, as AP News reported.

The recall included more than seventy products containing ham, bologna, and other ingredients manufactured at the company’s plant in Jarratt, Virginia.

Lawsuits against Boar’s Head

Currently, Boar’s Head is facing two lawsuits following an outbreak. One took place in Missouri court, whereas the other was a class action suit in federal court in New York.

According to the reports, the meat was sent to various stores nationwide and to countries outside the US, such as Panama and Mexico.

The CDC estimates it suggested a total of 1,600 people get food poisoning from listeria every year, among which 260 people lose their lives, according to AP News.
